Since Big Brother first aired in July 2000, a handful of contestants have left the gameearly for various reasons.

Due to the show’s live feeds, Big Brother fans are often aware that a houseguest has left the game before an official announcement is made. Prior to Paloma Aguilar’s self-eviction from Big Brother 24 being confirmed during a July 2022 episode, live feed watchers noticed the California native’s increasingly erratic behavior as she spoke of not being able to sleep.

Justin Sebik

Sebik was removed from the game after just 10 days in the house after he held a knife to fellow houseguest Krista Stegall’s throat and made comments about using the weapon on her. He later claimed he was just messing around but the incident, along with destruction of property in the house, was enough to get him expelled.

Scott Weintraub

The fourth season featured an X-Factor twist, which brought contestants’ exes into the house to compete alongside them. When Weintraub learned that his ex-girlfriend, Amanda Craig, was in the cast, he went on a tirade, breaking furniture and frightening the other players. His actions got him kicked out of the house.

Just seven days into the season, producers announced that Garcia had left the game due to a personal matter. The specific reason for the California native’s departure have never been revealed.

After the Coup d’Etat twist overthrew her HOH nominees in week five, Simone felt that production had sabotaged her game. She began to break rules, refusing to go to the diary room when instructed and removing her microphone and throwing it into the pool. She was expelled in week six and did not receive a jury vote.

Dick Donato

Known as “Evel Dick,” Donato returned for season 13 after winning season 8. However, he chose to leave the show after six days in the house. The bar owner later announced that he'd decided to self-evict after a blood test given to him by producers revealed he was HIV-positive.

Megan Lowder

Lowder, who self-evicted after eight days on the show, revealed that the Big Brother house triggered her PTSD as a sexual assault survivor.

“So, in the house … I had a lot of guys yelling at me and attacking me and it started really affecting me and making my anxiety severe and I was starting to get physically ill. I was throwing up, I had diarrhea, I was nauseous all the time,” she said during a June 2017 interview with The Desert Sun.

Chris Kattan

Kattan didn’t like the isolating experience of Celebrity Big Brother and chose to leave the show after the second eviction. In addition to missing his girlfriend and family, the comedian told Us that being filmed around the clock “really does get to you.”

Aguilar left the show due to “personal reasons” after telling fellow houseguests she wasn’t sleeping and talking about her increased anxiety in the Diary Room. During her eight days in the house, the California native drew backlash for her treatment of fellow houseguest Taylor Hale.

“Bro, I’ve tried to be compassionate toward her. She’s such a b—ch to me,” she said of Hale to other contestants.

Luke Valentine

Luke was expelled from the game before the first eviction after saying the N-word during a conversation captured on the live feeds in August 2023. He used the racial slur while talking to fellow houseguests Cory Wurtenberger, Hisam Goueli and Jared Fields.

“We’re in the f—king G’s room, n–ga!” Luke said in a clip, which made the rounds on social media. He then covered his mouth with his hand and attempted to walkback his use of the slur by saying, “Dude.”

Before Luke’s expulsion was addressed on the show, CBS announced the decision in a statement to Us. “Luke violated the BIG BROTHER code of conduct and there is zero tolerance in the house for using a racial slur,” the statement began.

After being removed from the game, Luke shared a vague update via social media.

“Hey, guys. Just letting you know, I’m alive, I’ve arrived and you gotta keep the flames stoked until next time,” he said via his Instagram Story days later. “We can’t burn out, no, no, no — the fires of love will continue to burn, baby.”
