Jade Goody's missing millions mystery and why Jack Tweed didn't get a penny (2024)
Jade Goody’s brave battle to ensure she left her sons in a good financial position following her death was well documented in her final few months.
After receiving the devastating news she had cervical cancer in 2008, Jade started putting money aside for Bobby and Freddie Brazier.
When she passed away on Mother’s Day in 2009, she’d collected an incredible £3million for a trust fund in her boys’ name after working hard to sell interviews and pictures, including of her wedding to Jack Tweed two weeks before her death, to boost the amount.
One of her last wishes was that her children would have a start in life her own mum Jackiey Budden hadn't been able to provide, and that the pair, who she shared with fellow reality star Jeff Brazier, would be able to go to private school.
Jeff, who split from the Big Brother star while she as pregnant with their youngest child Freddie, said in 2014: "The first thing she did was work out how much it would cost to put the boys through private education until they were 16. The answer was £260,000. In her last months that was what drove her on, even when she was so weak and in terrible pain. It was all that mattered to her. She so desperately wanted them to have the upbringing she had never had."
Jade’s husband Jack, 32, claimed the money Jade had left had “vanished” as he spoke out in an interview with The Sun in 2020. As a named beneficiary, he said he felt he should have kept a closer eye on the cash. "I don't want to accuse anyone because I don't know the full story but something doesn't seem right. Something doesn't add up," he told The Sun, "I probably should have been more involved with the money situation, seeing where it all went and making sure the kids got it and it didn't get wasted by anyone. But it didn't feel right for me to get involved in that at the time."
Speaking in 2014, Jeff added: “I know it's all a mess. The trouble with Jade, as I know only too well, was that she wasn't good at taking advice. If you tried to tell her something it would go in one ear and out the other.”
But in 2019, Jackiey, who received £10,000 in the will, said she believed there was still a good sum of Jade’s money left as she added: "There is money for the boys in a trust. Bobby’s private education is still paid for by Jade's money.

“Freddie goes to a state school and loves it – the money would be there if he was to go to private school. There was enough to provide for the boys. I think they'll get it when they're 18 or 21."

Brazier has two sons from his relationship with Big Brother contestant Jade Goody, Bobby Jack (b. 2003), who is known for his work as a model and his role in EastEnders as Freddie Slater, and Freddie (b. 2004). Brazier and Goody split in 2004, and she subsequently died of cervical cancer in 2009.
After the show, Goody stated that she understood her comments appeared racist and apologised for any offence caused. Shetty later told the media that she forgave Goody. After conducting an investigation, Ofcom ruled that Channel 4 had breached the Broadcasting Code, and statutory sanctions were placed on the network.
Jack - who now works as an electrician - eventually found love with a PA from Essex in 2022, after admitting he found relationships hard because he was 'always comparing' girlfriends with Jade. The TV star has been dating Ellie Sargeant since January 2022, after being introduced by mutual pals.
Bobby Brazier and the daughter of famous DJ Don Letts appeared to be in excellent spirits as they attended the VIP launch for Wagtail, a new rooftop bar in London, on Wednesday.
Bobby was only five-years-old when Jade died, and opening up in a newly resurfaced interview with The Face, the EastEnders star admitted that he felt he didn't have long enough with her.
She had received treatment when abnormal cells were found during a smear test on three previous occasions, and had also received a fourth diagnosis which she did not act upon as she admitted to being scared. In 2004 and 2006 Jade experienced heavy bleeding and stomach pains and was subsequently rushed to hospital.
Jade Goody missed several smear tests because she feared doctors would tell her she could not have more children, her doctor said. The late reality TV star did not attend the possibly life-saving check-ups because she was desperate to have a baby girl.
