Guide for Dragon Age: Inquisition - Story Walkthrough (2024)

MISCELLANEOUS ACHIEVEMENTS

Now that the main part of the game is over, we can now mop up the remaining achievements. All of the areas that you unlocked previously in the game are still available to explore. I've broken this part of the guide into the specific regions so you can go from area to area cleaning up what you haven't finished. To 100% the game, you pretty much have to uncover every area of every map due to having to collect all of the Ocularum Shards. By following through this section of the guide, you will earn yourself the remaining achievements left in the game.

Solve all 15 of the Astrarium Puzzles, located in the Hinterlands, Storm Coast, Crestwood, The Western Approach, and Emerald Graves to net yourself this achievement:

This achievement can be a little glitchy for some people, unless they've fixed this in an update. For my playthrough, I had to kill the 10th high dragon a second time for it to pop for me. Therefore, I would highly suggest making a save before you fight each dragon. Make sure the counter in the game increments each time you kill one of the high dragons. Then, if it glitches for some reason, you can reload right where you were before you fought the dragon and kill it again. For me I had to kill the dragon in the Exalted Plains twice (this was the last one for me).

Persuading 10 people to join the Inquisition in a single playthrough will earn you:

  • Persuasive

Acquire 10 Inquisition agents in a single playthrough.

There are people you can persuade to join the Inquisition all over the place, there are even some available in the main story missions which I've already mentioned previously.

Collecting all of the shards in the game and unlocking the final door of the Temple of Pride in the Hidden Oasis will net you this achievement:

  • Keymaster

Enter the heart of the Solasan temple.

Each map has a skull marked on it where you will find the Oculariums. Head to each skull and look through it to uncover each shard. Once you have uncovered all of the shards with the skull, then they will be marked on your map. It's then just a matter of picking each one up. Once you have them all you will be able to unlock every door in the Temple of Pride. Shards can be found in the Hinterlands, The Forbidden Oasis, The Western Approach, Exalted Plains, Emerald Graves, Emprise du Lion, and The Hissing Wastes.

Unlocking a campsite in every region of the game will net you this:

  • Pathfinder

Discover a campsite and establish at least one Inquisition camp in 10 wilderness areas.

2 guidesGuide for Dragon Age: Inquisition - Story Walkthrough (21)Guide for Dragon Age: Inquisition - Story Walkthrough (22)Guide for Dragon Age: Inquisition - Story Walkthrough (23)

You shouldn't have to unlock every campsite in the game for this achievement to pop, but you might as well because you have to find everything else anyway. This is glitchy for some people. The only thing I can say is if this doesn't unlock for you in your first playthrough for some reason, it is cumulative across playthroughs. So if it doesn't pop and you've unlocked every campsite, then start a new game with a new character and when you set up your first camp in the Hinterlands it will pop. This happened to me on both of my playthroughs on the 360 and the One versions. Mind you, this is not the first camp you automatically arrive at each time you go to a new region. You actually have to find a different one on each map for it to count. So get to those tent icons, set up camp, and unlock your fast travel points.

The next two achievements sort of go hand in hand:

  • Marked for Greatness

Seal 75 rifts in a single playthrough.

Guide for Dragon Age: Inquisition - Story Walkthrough (24)

2 guidesGuide for Dragon Age: Inquisition - Story Walkthrough (25)Guide for Dragon Age: Inquisition - Story Walkthrough (26)Guide for Dragon Age: Inquisition - Story Walkthrough (27)

  • Demonslayer

Defeat 1,000 demons in single-player mode.

Guide for Dragon Age: Inquisition - Story Walkthrough (28)

2 guidesGuide for Dragon Age: Inquisition - Story Walkthrough (29)Guide for Dragon Age: Inquisition - Story Walkthrough (30)Guide for Dragon Age: Inquisition - Story Walkthrough (31)

You need to seal 75 rifts in a single playthrough and there are definitely way more than 75 rifts available to seal in this game. So whenever you are exploring and see a rift near you, go close it if you can. If you're in a region, you will get quests to close the rifts so they will show up on your map. All of the rifts that you close in the main story missions count towards this too.

The second achievement for slaying 1,000 demons is cumulative across playthroughs. If for some reason you haven't killed 1,000 demons by the time you've finished this game, then you can start a new game with a new character and just focus on killing demons for a while. You should get it pretty early on in your second playthrough. If you want to farm demons, then you can head to the Hissing Wastes. There are several dwaren tombs there that require you to light 4 torches in the correct order. However, if you light the wrong torch, then 4-5 demons will pop up for you to kill. Every single time. So you can just rinse and repeat. One of these tombs is right next to a campsite as well, so you can go heal up and then head back in to kill more over and over again.

Lastly, the final achievement on the list is for kill 2,500 enemies:

  • Invincible

Defeat 2,500 enemies in single-player mode.

2 guidesGuide for Dragon Age: Inquisition - Story Walkthrough (33)Guide for Dragon Age: Inquisition - Story Walkthrough (34)Guide for Dragon Age: Inquisition - Story Walkthrough (35)

This is also cumulative across multiple playthroughs, but you should easily pop this once you've done the main story mission and all of the side stuff you need to do without even thinking about it.

Hinterlands

Hinterlands Notables

Herbs: Elfroot, Spindleweed, Embrium, , Royal Elfroot, Deep Mushroom, Crystal Grace
Ore: Iron, Obsidian, Drakestone
Leather: Canine Leather, Fennec Fur, Nugskin, Bear Hide, Ram Leather, Dragonling Scales, Druffalo Hide

Hinterlands Agents

There are 8 people in the Hinterlands that you can persuade to join the Inquisition.

HORSEMASTER DENNET: Available at Redcliffe farms after completing the sidequests "Trouble With Wolves" and "Farmland Security". Vivienne or Cassandra can rally Dennet to the cause or and Inquisitor with the right background can convince him as well.

CORPORAL VALE: Available at the Crossroads. When you first arrive at the Crossroads, you're told to talk to Corporal Vale. He'll tell you to go help some people out with sidequests. When you've completed these sidequests, speak with Vale. Choose the option to Ask him to grow the Inquisition's reputation to gain him as an agent.

ENCHANTER ELLENDRA: Ellendra is located at the Crossroads. There are a couple of ways to persuade Ellendra to join. If you complete the sidequest "My Lover's Phylactery", then you can have Vivienne convince her to join if she's in your party. You can also convince her if you are a mage yourself or if you have unlocked the Arcane Knowledge Inquisition perk.

RITTS: Available by completing the sidequest "Strange Bedfellows". If you were following the main road South to Lornan's Exile enclave, then you should have run into an Inquisition scout who's worried about his friend Ritts. Complete the quest to find Ritts. She'll be on a hill fighting off some angry Templars. She can be killed so help her fight off the Templars. Afterwards talk to Ritts. Next, use the search function to find a dead elven mage and then Ritts will tell you the truth about why she was up on the hill. You can then support her, allowing you to make her an agent yourself. If you have Varric in your party, then you can also get him to convince her to join.

LORD BERAND: Located upstairs in the bar area of the Lornan's Exile enclave. Completing the "Love Waits" sidequest will enable Berand to become an agent. He can be persuaded to join the Inquisition by the Inquisitor.

SPEAKER ANAIS: Available at the Lornan Exile enclave. Anais will ask you to prove yourself and close the rift located in the enclave. After you close the rift, you can convince Anais to either spread the word of the Inquisition or ask her to listen and gather information for the Inquisition. Either way she will become and agent.

CLEMENCE: Available during In Hushed Whispers. After talking with Alexius in the tavern in Redcliffe, don't leave. Clemence is standing in the tavern. If you talk to him, he will tell you he is worried about staying in Redcliffe because Alexius has a thing against Tranquils. He'll offer to join the Inquisition.

TANNER: Available in Redcliffe Village. You can find a letter on a dead body North of the Crossroads near Old Fennick's place during the quest "Blood Brothers". This will start another sidequest called "Business Arrangements". Head to Redcliffe Village and you'll find Tanner if you're heading towards the Chantry from the tavern. She's dressed like a sister. Call her out for what she really is. Have Cassandra in your party to convince her to use her devious ways to help the Inquisition.

Hinterlands High Dragon - The Ferelden Frostback

The Ferelden Frostback can be found in the Hinterlands in Lada Shayna's Valley. This dragon is recommended for level 12+. This dragon is the easiest of all the high dragons. It is fire based so bring fire resistance tonics along that mitigate fire damage and bring along mages with Frost Staves if you want to down her quickly. This dragon has the basic attacks. It will fly around at some points and shoot balls of flame at you. It has the wing attack that sucks every ranged character in doing quite a bit of damage. Also, at two points in the fight she will jump up onto one of the ledges and call in some dragonlings for you to kill. With the right gear, she's really quite easy to kill on Nightmare. On casual, this is just a joke.

Val Royeaux

Val Royeaux Agents

BARTER BY BELLE: Belle can be found in the main plaza area near where you speak with the clerics and Templars the first time. Belle asks to join the Inquisition so just let her.

The Fallow Mire

The Fallow Mire Notables

Herbs: Blood Lotus, Dawn Lotus
Ore: Blue Vitriol, Summer Stone
Fade Rifts: 2

The Fallow Mire Agents

SKY WATCHER: You'll meet the Avvar Sky Watcher near a partially closed rift along the main road of the Fallow Mire. The Inquisitor can open and the completely close this rift in front of Sky Watcher. After talking with him, he'll be impressed with you and tell you he wishes you no ill will unlike the other Avvar in the mire. Once you rescue the Inquisition soldiers from the Avaar keep, don't fast travel anywhere. Head back out the front entrance of the keep and Sky Watcher will be waiting there. Talk to him to recruit him to the Inquisition, otherwise he'll be gone for good.

The Storm Coast

The Storm Coast Notables

Herbs: Spindleweed, Blood Lotus, Deep Mushroom, Black Lotus, Prophet's Laurel
Ore: Serpenstone, Summer Stone, Iron
Leather: Ram Leather, Deepstalker Hide, Dragonling Scales, Bear Hide
Fade Rifts: 3

The Storm Coast Agents

THE BLADES OF HESSARIAN: During the side quest "Cleaning House", you are given the option to craft an amulet called Mercy's Crest. Gather the materials for the item and use a requisition table at a camp site to make it. Make sure to equip this crest before heading to the Blades of Hessarian's camp. If you have it equipped, then when you get there you will be able to enter their gates and will only have to beat their leader in combat. Once their leader is gone they will join the Inquisition. They never liked their leader anyway...

Storm Coast High Dragon - The Vinsomer

The Vinsomer can be found on its very own island, Dragon Island, in the Northwest of the Storm Coast. This dragon is recommended for level 16+. The Vinsomer is an electric based dragon, so bring along any items with electric based resistance. The Vinsomer is also weak to spirit damage, so having some mages equipped with spirit based staffs can really help. The Vinsomer has the usual wing pull in ability, she'll spit electricity all over the ground, and also call in her little dragonlings to help out here and there. To be able to get to the Vinsomer, you will have to complete the War Table Operation "Red Templars on the Storm Coast" to open the way to the port to take a boat across to the island.

The Forbidden Oasis

JANA: When you leave the first campsite upon arriving in Crestwood and head towards the town, you will happen upon some Grey Wardens. Right after the Grey Wardens take off, you can head into the house that you are right near. In this house is Jana and you need to convince her not to join the wardens. Also, if Solas is in your party, he can convince her to join the Inquisition instead as an agent.

Crestwood High Dragon - The Northern Hunter

The Northern Hunter can be found in some castle ruins in the Black Fens of Crestwood at the very South end of the map. This dragon is recommended for level 13+. The Northern Hunter battle is almost identical to the Vinsomer in the Storm Coast. The Northern Hunter is an electric based dragon, so bring along any items with electric based resistance. The Norther Hunter is also weak to spirit damage, so having some mages equipped with spirit based staffs can really help. The Northern Hunter has the usual wing pull in ability and she'll spit electricity all over the ground so be ready to move out of it. It really hurts.

The Western Approach

Western Approach Notables

Herbs: Elfroot, Spindleweed, Blood Lotus, Deathroot, Deep Mushroom, Dragonthorn, Witherstalk, Ghoul's Beard

Frederic can be found just to the Southwest of the southern most campsite in the Western Approach. You'll likely have already uncovered some quests involving Frederic before even meeting him. Complete all of the quests involving Frederic (these are required to get the dragon to appear) and slay the Abyssal High Dragon. Once the dragon is dead speak to Frederic again to recruit him to the Inquisition.

The quests involved are "Draconology", "How to Lure a Dragon", "Hunting Patterns", "Sharper White Claws", and "A Manuscript of Some Authority". The Abyssal High Dragon will be fought in the very South of the Western Approach. This dragon is recommended for level 14+. This dragon is fire based so any fire resistance items will help with this fight. It is also very vulnerable to cold damage. This dragon can also create a wind shield to protect itself from ranged attacks.

Exalted Plains

Exalted Plains Notables

Herbs: Dragonthorn, Witherstalk, Ghoul's Beard, Royal Elfroot, Black Lotus, Rashvine Nettle
Ore: Lazurite, Everite, Obsidian
Leather: Canine Leather, Nugskin, Gurgut Webbing, Halla Leather, Craggy Skin, Snoufleur Skin
Fade Rifts: 10

Exalted Plains Agents

LORANIL: Loranil can be found in the Dalish Camp in the Southwest area of the Exalted Plains. Loranil wants to leave his clan to join the Inquisition, but you must first gain favor with the clan by completing sidequests before the leader Hawen will permit him to leave. Complete the "Golden Halla", "Someone to Lose", "Something to Prove" and "A Well Stocked Camp" to gain enough favor with the Dalish to recruit Loranil. Doing the quest "The Spoils of Desecration" is best done after recruiting Loranil as you will lose favor with the Dalish for completing this quest.

Exalted Plains High Dragon - The Gamordan Stormrider

The Gamordan Stormrider can be found in the Crow Fens, in the Northeast of the Exalted Plains. To get to the Crow Fens, you will need to find the blocked passage to Ghilan'nain's Grove and claim it. Then complete the War Table operation: Gain Access to Ghilan'nain's Grove. This dragon is recommended for level 13+. This dragon is electric based so bring along electrical resistance items. Staves with spirit damage are also a bonus. This dragon like to spit electricity and if you happen to be standing in the water while she's doing it, then you will end up getting stunned and take a lot of damage. So try to stay out of the water.

Emerald Graves

Emerald Graves Notables

Herbs: Elfroot, Spindleweed, Blood Lotus, Deep Mushroom, Rashvine, Embrium, Arbor Blessing, Royal Elfroot, Black Lotus, Prophet's Laurel, Rashvine Nettle, Felandaris
Ore: Iron, Bloodstone, Pyrophite, Obsidian, Everite, Stormheart, Dawnstone
Leather: Bronto Hide, Canine Leather, Nugskin, August Ram Leather, Bear Hide, Great Bear Hide
Fade Rifts: 10

Emerald Graves Agents

FAIRBANKS: Fairbanks is at the center of a "fair" number of quests in the Emerald Graves. The Inquisitor will first run into Fairbanks in a ravine with a bunch of refugees just to the North of the Emerald Graves starting camp. He'll give you the quest "The Freeman of the Dales" which starts off a whole chain of sidequests. You'll need to complete the sidequests "A Fallen Sister", "Not Everyone's Free", "A Vicious Thug", "A Corrupt General", and "A Deluded Chevalier". By then, the refugees and Fairbanks will be set up at Argon's Lodge. Talking to Clara there will lead to another sidequest called "Noble Deeds, Noble Heart". Clara believes Fairbanks is actually an Orlesian noble and wants you to get the proof. Gather the proof and turn it into Fairbanks instead of Clara if you would like to have Fairbanks become an agent of the Inquisition.

Emerald Graves High Dragon - The Greater Mistral

The Greater Mistral can be found in the very North of the Emerald Graves. This dragon is recommended for level 17+. This dragon is ice based so any cold resistant items will help. Fire staves are also a good idea for this fight. This dragon can fly around and spit some very potent ice balls at your group. The Greater Mistral will quite often buff up with a full guard bar. She has the regular pull in wing attack that damages anyone standing outside of it. Antivan fire potions can also help do some good damage to this dragon.

Emprise du Lion

Emprise du Lion Notables

Herbs: Elfroot, Rashvine, Arbor Blessing, Black Lotus, Rashvine Nettle, Felandaris
Ore: Bloodstone, Silverite
Leather: Canine Leather, Nugskin, Dragonling Scales, August Ram Leather, Bear Hide, Great Bear Hide, Snoufleur Skin
Fade Rifts: 6

Emprise du Lion Agents

MICHEL DE CHEVIN: You can find Michel de Chevin just outside Sarnia in Emprise du Lion. He tells you that there is a demon he must deal with at Suledin Keep. Go to Suledin Keep and defeat the demon Imshael and return to Michel to recruit him to the Inquisition. If you side with Imshael at the keep or kill Imshael before speaking with Michel, then you will be unable to recruit him.

Emprise du Lion High Dragons

Emprise du Lion is home to 3 high dragons. To get to where these dragons rest, you will need to claim Judicael's Crossing in the middle East of Emprise du Lion. Complete the War Table operation to repair the bridge and you will be able to cross over to where these dragons nest.

Emprise du Lion High Dragon - The Hivernal

This dragon is recommended for level 19+. The Hivernal is an ice based dragon so bring along ice resistant items. She is also weak to fire so fire staves are a must. The Hivernal does the usual fly around and spit ice balls at you. She can also make a wind barrier that damages anyone inside it and protects against ranged attacks. The Hivernal can buff with a full guard bar from time to time, so having the ability to do guard damage is also a plus.

Emprise du Lion High Dragon - The Kaltenzahn

This dragon is recommended for level 21+. The Kaltenzahn is very similar to the Hivernal in that it's cold-based and weak to fire damage. So bring along the same gear. The Kaltenzahn can breath a stream of ice that will slow any party members that get caught in it as well as damaging them. The Kaltenzahn has the wing draw in ability and can call in her little dragonlings to help out as well. This girl can be a pain to take down. Take her out on casual difficulty after you beat the main storyline and she's easy Guide for Dragon Age: Inquisition - Story Walkthrough (61).

Emprise du Lion High Dragon - The Highland Ravager

This dragon is recommended for level 22+. Unlike the other 2 dragons in Emprise du Lion, this one is playing the opposite game. She's fire based and weak to cold. So switch out your gear. She starts the fight off snoozing so any abilities you can drop on her right at the beginning of the fight can take out a lot of her health right from the get go. This dragon creates a wind shield that damages anyone standing too close to it. She'll also breath out jet streams of fire. When she roars and fire circles appear on the ground, make sure you're not standing in them. They'll erupt into flames when she slams her legs on the ground. She can also call in her little dragonlings to help when her health starts getting low. She'll also put up a full guard from time to time.

The Hissing Wastes

Hissing Wastes Notables

Herbs: Elfroot, Vandal Aria, Amrita Vein, Ghoul's Beard, Zangolia, Dragonthorn, Witherstalk
Ore: Serpenstone, Lazurite, Volcanic Aurum, Nevarrite
Leather: Dragonling Scales, Fennec Fur, August Ram Leather, Rough Hide, Hardened Gurn Hide, Craggy Skin, Lurker Scales, Wyvern Scales
Fade Rifts: 12

Hissing Wastes High Dragon - The Sandy Howler

The Sandy Howler can be found in the very middle East of the Hissing Wastes. This dragon is recommended for level 20+. She's very much like the Highland Ravager in Emprise du Lion. She's fire based and weak to cold. She starts the fight off snoozing so any abilities you can drop on her right at the beginning of the fight can take out a lot of her health right from the get go. This dragon creates a wind shield that damages anyone standing in range of it. She can buff up with full guard and will call in her dragonlings when her health starts getting low.
